Our Ceramic Coating Guarantee
All ceramic coating work carried out by Maldon Shotblasting & Powder Coating Ltd at our Heybridge, Essex workshop is backed by a guarantee:
- Cerakote ceramic coating: 1-year guarantee
- Two-stage plasma base and Cerakote top coat: 2-year guarantee, including a free rework and carriage costs if the item fails within that time
- Powder coating: 5-year guarantee – see the powder coating guarantee on the Maldon Shotblasting & Powder Coating website
What the ceramic coating guarantee covers
Provided a coating with a suitable temperature rating has been chosen for the component, our ceramic coating guarantee covers burning, surface lift and corrosion.
Our preparation process
Every item is blast cleaned using clean, virgin blast media, then alcohol washed, preheated to dry out any contamination, masked where required and finally coated with the chosen ceramic coating system.
Cast iron and mild steel items
To offer our two-year guarantee on cast iron and mild steel components such as manifolds and turbo housings, we apply an alloy plasma metallisation base coat before the ceramic finish. This is an optional extra, shown on your quotation and charged at a discounted rate of 50% of our standard cost.
As well as extending the guarantee, the plasma coat helps to reduce heat loss and disguises minor corrosion pitting left after blast cleaning. It does leave a very slightly textured, sandpaper-like finish.
Choosing the right coating
Each ceramic colour has its own temperature rating. If a colour with a lower temperature tolerance is chosen for a component that runs hotter, the guarantee will not apply. We will advise you on suitability at the time of order.
Curing time
Ceramic coatings need time to cure fully. Please allow five full days before running a coated component up to working temperature. Failing to do so will void the guarantee.
Looking after your coated parts
- Wash regularly with a standard car shampoo.
- Remove road salt and other contaminants as soon as possible.
- Do not use cleaners containing acids.
- Do not use abrasive products such as T-Cut.
What is not covered
- Accidental damage.
- Staining caused by road pollution, road salt, burnt-on tar or heavy grit.
- Items that were not in sound condition before work began.
Guarantees are subject to the general condition of the items, and in some cases we may be unable to offer cover. If we find any problems during the work, we will let you know and advise on the best way forward.
How to make a claim
If you have a problem with a coated item, email msb@msbpcl.co.uk with a description of the issue, photos and your invoice number if you have it, or call us on 01621 841100.
Guarantee FAQs
How long is the guarantee on ceramic coating?
Cerakote ceramic coatings carry a one-year guarantee. Our two-stage system, a plasma coat base with a Cerakote top coat, carries a two-year guarantee, including a free rework and carriage costs if the item fails within that time.
Do cast iron manifolds need anything extra for the two-year guarantee?
Yes. To offer our two-year guarantee on cast iron and mild steel items such as manifolds and turbo housings, we apply an alloy plasma metallisation base coat before the ceramic finish. It is an optional extra shown on your quotation.
How soon can I use a part after ceramic coating?
Allow five full days for the coating to cure before running the part up to working temperature. Running it sooner will void the guarantee.
What guarantee do you offer on powder coating?
Standard powder coating by Maldon Shotblasting & Powder Coating Ltd carries a five-year guarantee. Full details are on the Maldon Shotblasting & Powder Coating website.
