Ceramic Coated Brake Callipers

Ceramic coating gives brake callipers a heat-resistant, hard-wearing finish that protects them from corrosion, road salt and brake dust. We restore and ceramic coat callipers for cars and motorbikes in-house at our workshop in Heybridge, Essex, including badly corroded callipers that need repair before coating.

Restoring corroded callipers

Callipers take a beating from heat, water and road salt, and older ones are often badly pitted. We restore them in three stages:

1. Blast cleaning: a careful blast clean removes old coatings and corrosion.
2. Metallisation repair: a layer of pure aluminium arc spray fills and repairs the pitting, then it’s cut back to leave a smooth surface. There’s more about this process on our main site’s metallisation page.
3. Ceramic finish: the final coat looks good and gives long-term protection.

Preparing your callipers

Please remove the pistons and seals before sending your callipers to us, so every surface can be properly blast cleaned and coated.

Process, guarantee and aftercare

Every calliper is blast cleaned with clean, virgin media, alcohol washed, preheated, masked where required and then coated.

Cerakote ceramic coatings carry a one-year guarantee, or two years with our two-stage plasma base and Cerakote system. Full details are on our ceramic coating guarantee page.

Please allow five full days for the coating to cure fully before use.

Can badly corroded brake callipers be restored?
Often, yes. After blast cleaning, we can repair pitting with an aluminium arc spray (metallisation) layer, cut it back smooth and then apply a ceramic finish.

Why ceramic coat callipers instead of painting them?
Ceramic coatings are heat-resistant, hard-wearing and resist corrosion, so they stand up to braking heat and road salt better than ordinary paint.
