Ceramic Coated Engine Parts

Ceramic coatings give engine parts a tough, heat-resistant finish that protects against corrosion, chemicals and wear. We coat rocker and cam covers, engine casings, carburettors and other engine components for cars and motorcycles, in-house at our workshop in Heybridge, Essex.

Which engine parts can be ceramic coated?

We coat a wide range of engine components, including:

  • rocker covers and cam covers
  • engine casings and covers
  • carburettors and other alloy components
  • engine blocks, radiators, intercoolers and transmission cases, using heat-dissipating coatings
  • pistons, valves and combustion chambers, using a thermal barrier coating
  • internal moving parts such as cams, cranks and valve stems, using a dry film coating

Choosing the right coating

Different engine parts need different coatings. We’ll recommend the right system for each part:

  • Protective and decorative finishes: Cerakote H Series and C Series offer a wide range of colours with excellent corrosion and chemical resistance.
  • Heat-dissipating coatings: Arctic Black and Heat Transfer Grey help draw heat away from engine blocks, radiators and transmission cases.
  • Thermal barrier coatings: Piston Coat is designed for piston crowns, valves and combustion chambers.
  • Friction-reducing coatings: Micro Slick is a dry film coating for moving parts.
  • Ceramic clear coat: High Gloss Ceramic Clear protects polished alloy engine casings.

Why ceramic coat engine parts?

  • Heat resistance: the finish stays stable at engine temperatures.
  • Corrosion and chemical resistance: it protects against oil, fuel, road salt and moisture.
  • A hard-wearing finish: it’s tough, durable and easy to clean.
  • A thin film: it keeps a close fit on components. We mask threads and mating surfaces where required.

Process, guarantee and aftercare

Every part is blast cleaned with clean, virgin media, alcohol washed, preheated, masked where required and then coated.

Cerakote ceramic coatings carry a one-year guarantee, or two years with our two-stage plasma base and Cerakote system. Full details are on our ceramic coating guarantee page.

High-temperature coatings need five full days to cure before running up to working temperature.

Ceramic Coated Engine Parts FAQs

Which engine parts can be ceramic coated?
Most engine components can be coated, including rocker and cam covers, engine casings, carburettors, pistons, valves and internal moving parts. The coating system we use depends on the part.

Will ceramic coating resist oil and fuel?
Yes. Cerakote H Series coatings offer excellent chemical resistance, protecting engine parts against oil, fuel and cleaning products.

Can you ceramic coat aluminium engine casings?
Yes. We coat aluminium casings in a range of colours, or protect polished alloy with a high-gloss ceramic clear coat.

Will the coating affect how parts fit together?
Ceramic coatings are applied as a very thin film. We mask threads and mating surfaces where required so parts still fit correctly.
