Arctic Black Heat Transfer Ceramic Coating
Cerakote Arctic Black is a semi-gloss black heat-dissipating coating that helps transfer heat away from engine blocks, radiators, intercoolers and transmission cases. It’s rated to 260°C without discolouration, and we apply it in-house at our workshop in Heybridge, Essex.
How does a heat-dissipating coating work?
Unlike a thermal barrier, which keeps heat in, a heat-dissipating coating helps components shed heat. Arctic Black is part of Cerakote’s range of submicron heat-dissipating coatings, which have high thermal conductivity.
Typical uses
- radiators
- engine blocks
- transmission cases
- heat sinks
- intercoolers
- anywhere heat dissipation is needed
Arctic Black or Heat Transfer Grey?
- Arctic Black: semi-gloss solid black, rated to 260°C.
- Heat Transfer Grey: matt charcoal grey with a soft metallic finish, rated to 648°C.

Arctic Black FAQs
What is Arctic Black used for?
It’s used on parts that need to shed heat, such as radiators, engine blocks, intercoolers and transmission cases.
What temperature is Arctic Black rated to?
Arctic Black is rated to 260°C without discolouration.
What is the difference between heat-dissipating and thermal barrier coatings?
Heat-dissipating coatings help parts release heat. Thermal barrier coatings, like those on exhausts, keep heat in.
